I installed it on my system so days ago and it worked fine. You could record your own personal message and load it to SAM. So let SAM do the answering for you whenever you are not there in front of your computer.

I have installed Woize and ineen on my system for more than a week now but they are just not working. I tried to call other users with them, in case of Woize the connection could not be established, all attempt to get help from their user forum did not work as nobody seems to have a solution to the problem. I also tried on another system but the problem persists. In the case of ineen i was able to connect to another user but we couldnt hear each other. More information about IPDRUM - Mobile Skyping is here!

This is a follow up of my post "This could be really big". More information has now emerged about the new mobile skyping solution called IPDRUM. This application is in the form of a hardware and software. The hardware is a USB data cable that connects your old mobile phone to your computer and a software to be installed on your PC. Two mobile phones are required, one is connected to your PC using the usb cable and the software allow a connection to be established between the mobile phone connected to your PC and the second mobile phone in your pocket for example. To make a skype call, all you need to do is to call the mobile phone connected to your PC at the cost of a local call and the call will then be routed through the internet using skype. Esentially you can make international calls right from your mobile phones anywhere you are at the cost of local call. You call also receive your Skype calls on your mobile phone anywhere you are. This is a break through especially in europe where the cost of international calls from mobile phones is really high. This will make the mobile phone companies rethink their international calling rates. IPDRUM they said will be available as from mid-august and will cost between $60 and $80.

First experience with vSkype!.

I had my first experience with vSkype about 24 hours ago and that experience was not realy a good one. The problem started right from the installation process, at the first try i got an internal error message and i closed the installer and tried again this time it worked so i now have the latest video application that works with skype. I decided to invite some of my contacts to a video chat on vSkype but alas another error message, vskype could not open. Some reason were suggested as the cause and i was asked to exit vskype and skype and restart both applications new which i did but the problem did not solve. Iwas directed to their website and i sent my e-mail address but uptill now no word from them. A friend of mine who allready have vSkype later invited me to a chat and literarily it worked and we could see each other but at the expense of the audio quality of skype, we could not hear each other well anymore. Another friend of my from spain who is on dial-up connection and has been enjoying his skype experience for about 2 years now despite his slow internet connection invited me to a video chat with vSkype. After so much troubles we were able to make it work but it later crashed after a couple of minutes and the audio quality of skype suffered during the periods when it worked. This is still a beta version of vSkype so i believe it could still be improved considerably. What i found realy interesting is the claim that you can conference with up to 200 people on vSkype far more that the 5 paticipants limitation of Skype. But i have not gotten the opportunity to test this ability because of the problems above. Have you tried this application too and what was your experience?. Leave a comment here to share your personal experience with other readers. I intends to carry out more test soon so keep coming back here for latest information.

This could be really big!

IPdrum a norway based company has announced that they have developed a Skype mobile cable. They claim that this will allow skype users to make Skype calls right from their mobile phone. That means that you can make international calls right from your mobile phone at local rates. The details is not yet clear from their press release but i have sent them an e-mail requesting for more details. As soon as they reply i will keep you guys informed. This i think is realy interesting and if it works fine could revolutionise the voip world. In the mean time you can go to IPdrum to read more.

Yahoo goes the Skype way, buys Dialpad!

I just read from VoIP-watch that Yahoo has bought dialpad in order to add some capabilities of skype to its IM that it doesnt have as at now. Its clear that yahoo is now competing with Skype and that can only be good for the voip users. I am at the moment beta testing the new yahoo version with the capability for pc-to-pc calls and the audio quality has considerably improved but there has been times i just cant help but switch to skype. Buying dialpad will realy allow yahoo with its more that 65 million users to compete with skype. It means that soon it will be possible to make cheap pc-to-phone calls direct from yahoo messenger. I think now that MSN, AOL and other IMs have no choice but to follow suit if they still want to keep their users. This is realy good news for the voip users and i also see a win win situation here too. With increased use of voip the demand for broadband connection such as DSL will increased considerably. Therefore telecom companies can continue to provide more DSL lines to subscribers while the call are made with voip. The next big step will be for this IMs to interconnect there voip service so that it could be possible for someone on Skype to call friends on yahoo for free. Some convectional voip providers are already doing that, for example subscribers of sipgate can call those of gossiptel for free and vice versal. You can go to www.dialpad.com to read more about the story. More Yahoo Links : ============== Yahoo! Personals with 7 Day FREE Trial offer Get quotes from Yahoo! Football meet Skype. The Kickoff experiment!

If you have visited kickoff or cybereagles forum before coming here then you allready know what this is all about. The idea here is to use skype to stream audio commentary of Nigeria football matches from nigeria to all Nigerian football fans all around the world. If you are allready familiar with skype you can suggest better ways you think this can be implemented other that the one i suggested. You can add me (skype id: solokay) to your contact list on Skype so that we can discuss better ways of making this work or you can simply give ur skypeid here and i will add you to my list. I hope that we will be able to do this with video one day and never miss Nigeria matches again irrespective of where we are in the world. Wishing the Super Eagles well on Saturday.

New Video plug-in for Skype

Its now possible to make video calls on skype. Dialcom networks, a spanish company have developed a video plug-in for skype called spontania video4skype. This plug-in integrates well with skype and it is easy to install and use. I tested it with a guy i met on the skype users forum a couple of days ago and it worked well. The video quality is realy good and the motion is natural unlike the brake dance kind of motion we are used to on some other online video applications. More impotantly it does not reduce the audio quality of Skype in anyway ( at least on my broadband connection). I would like to know how it work on slower connections.
It is realy eciting making video calls with this plug-in and skype, you can hear and see the person you are talking to clearly, every movement and gesture! just like he or she is right there in front of you. The only problem i noticed with the plug-in is that it sometimes show some blemishes whenever you make some fast movement. i think this happens because it is trying to capture the motion as fast as it could.
You can get the video plug-in for free at www.video4skype.com. Have you tried it?. How does it work for you?. Leave a comment here.
