Court Ruling on Vonage and Sprint
The legal battle between Vonage and Sprint Nextel Corp has reached its climax just as a US federal court passed its verdict. From the decision of the judiciary Vonage might not be having it so easy. Vonage seems to be found guilty of the lawsuit Sprint filed against it over Sprint’s patent infringement of the former.
Although, non of the two parties could be reached immediately to shed more light about Vonage’s predicament, it is possible that Vonage might have been stopped to provide services or pay patent extortion money to Sprint.
Already, Vonage had been booked to pay the sum of $ 58 million for violating the version’s patents and it is to pay another $65.5million to Sprint for using its patent. The blow is beginning to hit on Vonage; its shares’ trading was halted on the Nasadaq after sliding 7.7 percent to $1.81.
However, all hope is not lost for Vonage it may find a company that owns some VoIP patents and acquire them thereby saving them from the mess it found itself.
