Vonage trying to come out of legal hassles
The Embattled VoIP Company, Vonage, would soon bounce back to normal after facing several legal disputes as regards patent right of the VoIP service it offers. The company is now trying to clear off the air all the legal hassles against it in order to focus on its major business.
The recent dispute settled in the one involving the company and Klausner Technologies over voicemail platform infringement where Klausner Technologies sued Vonage for violating its patent right. The two parties relating to voicemail services.
This is good for Vonage because this is the second dispute settled within a week. Earlier, Vonage has agreed to pay the total sum of $80 million to Sprint Nextel as part of the settlement over Sprint Nextel’s patent and the company has granted Vonage over 100 VoIP patents.
However, all may not totally be well because Vonage is still fighting another legal battle with Verizon communication. Vonage has been ordered to pay $58million in damages along side with 5.5 percent royalties on future revenues for the violation of three Verizon patens.
Though it seems they might not be paying as much as the amount fined going by the verdict of the US court of Appeals that recently decided that one of the three patents might have been misinterpreted by the lower court.
