FCC Facilitates Number Portability to VoIP
The intervention of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to expand local number portability (LNP) to VoIP means that henceforth there would be easy number portability and transfer of phone number from one provider to another.
Indeed, this would make things a lot easier especially for those who would prefer to retain their old local land-line phone number while trying another service provider. This has modified the fear that phone lines may be changed as a result, subscribers can retain their old lines irrespective of the switch over.
In order to ensure that customers are not kept under un due anxiety during the course of transfer, FCC has mandated the whole arrangement to take place within 48 hours of the request.
