Andover Public Schools awards AT&T voice and data services contract
Andover Public Schools has just awarded a five year voice and data services contract to the US communications holding company AT&T Inc. Andover Public Schools is a public school district which serves over 4,000 students in eight schools wthin Butler County, USA.
Under the terms for the contract, AT&T has said that it will provide a Switched Ethernet solution to support the implementation of VoIP. This will widen its current relationship with Andover Public Schools. AT&T believes this solution will provide expanded bandwidth for educational applications at each school and support programmes across the network, including podcasts and United Streaming TV.
The solution was designed to incorporate disaster recovery services, thus ensuring an increased network security and redundancy. It will also support streamlined communications that will ensure efficient voice and data network management.
According to AT&T, VoIP services will convert voice calls into data packets, which will allow the district to send and receive calls over a high-speed Internet connection, while VoIP will allow teachers to route calls to different rooms.
