M5 Networks Announced the Launch of M5 Call Center

M5 Networks, the market leader in delivering phone system functionality as a service, today announced the launch of M5 Call Center, an M5 On-Demand Solution. A component of M5’s innovative Voice as a Service (VaaS) model, M5 Call Center enables decision makers and call center supervisors at mid-size businesses from diverse industries to make intelligent decisions about staffing and call flow.
Lloyd Group, a 60-person information technology consulting firm based in Manhattan and multiple Inc. 500 winner, leverages M5 Call Center solution to deliver world-class IT services to its clientele. M5 Call Center allows Lloyd Group to monitor incoming support calls, route those calls effectively, and track and report against company performance. As a result, Lloyd Group is able to provide better customer service to existing clients, while improving both daily and long-term business operations. These revolutionary voice services give Lloyd Group an edge over its competition, increasing internal productivity and enabling the company to market these solutions to its clients with the benefit of first-hand experience.
“Because of M5 Call Center, Lloyd Group’s average speed-to-answer is now 10 percent faster, even with a 30 percent call volume increase during the same period,” said Adam Eiseman, President & CEO of Lloyd Group.
By using real-time queue monitoring and historical reporting applications, M5 Call Center provides Lloyd Group with the ability to track team and individual performance in queues, such as time to answer and employee productivity. With M5 Call Center, businesses can make informed decisions about staffing levels based on measurable data, which allows them to gauge productivity based on current volumes and past performance statistics. All of this real-time data can be accessed through an intuitive and easy—to-use web-based application. M5 Call Center allows businesses to seamlessly extract useful data that would otherwise go undetected due to lack of internal resources.
“M5 plays a vital role in the success of our rapid growth, and M5 Call Center allows us to make the right decisions when it comes to call routing and call center staffing,” said Eiseman. “Gone are the days of not being able to handle high call volume or being inadequately staffed or overstaffed. M5 brings voice services to mid-sized businesses on a level that was previously only attainable by Fortune 1000 companies.”
M5 is always innovating and creating new ways to help its community of businesses prioritize the solutions that produce real business change. Businesses use M5’s On-Demand Solutions to gain valuable business knowledge, measurable ROI and performance metrics and actionable information that ultimately helps generate true business breakthroughs and overall cost savings. M5’s On-Demand Solutions are deployed with an expert analyst to guide the process and handle ongoing management and are designed to be intuitive and easy to use, eliminating the need for a user manual or extensive training.
“Today, communications are no longer just another business necessity. Communications should be regarded and treated as a competitive edge. M5 Call Center provides mid-size business with the edge needed to effectively compete with Fortune 1000 companies,” said Dan Hoffman, President & CEO of M5 Networks. “In the next five to ten years, Voice as a Service (VaaS) will transform the way mid-size businesses communicate and operate. M5’s On-Demand Solutions are the driving forces behind this transformation.”
M5 pioneered a new paradigm for business communications, Voice as a Service (VaaS), which includes three major components: Active Service Management, or proactive, transparent service from deployment through ongoing management and maintenance; Embedded Continuity, or “baked-in” business continuity that goes far beyond simple redundancy; and On-Demand Solutions, which provide actionable business breakthroughs for marketing, call center, staffing and client service functions.

Warburg Pincus Invest $12 million in Vringo

Vringo, the pioneer in video ringtone sharing, has announced the successful closing of its Series B round of venture capital funding, receiving $12 million in a round led by Warburg Pincus, the global private equity firm. The financing will fund Vringo’s global expansion as it brings new personalization and content services to mobile phone markets in the United States , Europe and Asia.
“Vringo set out with an ambitious goal to make video ringtone sharing finally work,” said Jon Medved , the founder and CEO of Vringo. “We are delighted to be working with Warburg Pincus, a firm that shares our vision and recognizes the enormous consumer potential in sharing video ringtones. Their extraordinary track record, truly global reach, corporate relationships and strategic insight will bring huge value to Vringo as it grows.”
Concurrent with the closing of the Series B funding, the company announced the election of George Allen, a principal at Warburg Pincus, to its board of directors.
“We are very excited to be involved with Vringo at a time when consumers are poised to benefit from the explosion of multimedia mobile devices,” said Mr. Allen of the New York-based firm , which has been a premier investor in technology, media and telecommunications. “Vringo is uniquely positioned to shape and ride the second wave of mobile personalization, and the company has the talent to make it happen.”
Vringo provides users with the ability to share video ringtones each time they make a phone call. Vringo brings ringtones to life by integrating video clips, avatars, animation, greeting cards or photos whenever users make or receive calls.
Vringo’s Chairman, Dan Ciporin, former CEO of Shopping.com, commented: “Vringo is breaking new ground in personalization, we call it Personalization 2.0. Whereas in the past, ringtone content was mostly professionally created audio, Vringo content will be a richer multimedia and video experience with much of it being user generated. While personalization used to be about ‘me and my phone,’ now it is going to be about ‘me and my buddy’s phone,’ as personalization meets social networking.”
The Vringo application, now in public beta, will soon be available on a wide set of mobile handsets including devices made by Nokia, Motorola, SonyEricsson and Samsung. The company will use this investment round to formally launch its product and to expand global partnerships with leading mobile carriers and content providers.

Albuquerque Studios embrace VoIP

The New Mexico based Albuquerque Studios has embraced voip and wireless communications in order to improve its operations. They believe that these technologies will help amiliarate the hectic turnarounds always needed to equip its movie- and TV-making tenants who rent the state-of-the-art soundstages.
The $74 million studio, located in Mesa del Sol, N.M., includes a $7 million data and voice infrastructure, including VoIP phones that operate with security and unified communications software from Cisco Systems Inc., said Nick Smerigan, the studio's chief operating officer.
After two months of operation, Smerigan is sure it was a good investment, based on comments he's heard from movie and TV executives who have leased the six enormous soundstages for their productions.
"They seem to think we walk on water," Smerigan said in an interview at Cisco's Networkers Conference here. The tenants are happy because Smerigan, Executive Director Jerry Hariton and their team have been able to use VoIP to swiftly reconfigure phones and data communications for quick changes in movie-making crews, some of whom arrive for only a few days of work before turning over the space to the next crew.
"If we can reconfigure quickly, it's important to clients because it gives them flexibility," Hariton said.Moves, additions and changes to phones and computers for new workers used to be "exhausting work" with analog phones in prior locations, Smerigan said, and it sometimes took days to complete the job. With a recent team of 60 who needed 14 work areas reconfigured, the work took less than a day, he said.
The studio's tenants have benefited as well by being able to use voice over wireless phones through the Wi-Fi network, giving them the ability to move freely over the studio's 28 acres, Hariton said. One convention that Hariton said the studio might embrace eventually is a dual-mode phone that a user can carry from the Wi-Fi to the cellular network. "When it's available, we'll definitely take a look at it," he said.
Albuquerque Studios announced in June that it christened its studio operations with the filming of In Plain Sight, a Universal Media Studios television series about the witness-protection program.

MTNL hopes Net TV and VoIP will improve margins

The India based Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd is trying desperately to stop its declining profit margins. It seems the managers now realise that VoIP and IPTV services could help in this regard and they have decided to launch IP based telephony and television for their customers in Delhi and Mumbai.
The State-owned company is launching VoIP-based telephony services next week which will offer ISD calls to the US at around Re 1 per minute. It is also re-launching its IPTV services in a major way on August 15 with nearly 100 channels. The company on Friday reported a 6% decline in its net profit for the first quarter of the 2007-08 financial year to Rs 110 crore from Rs 118 crore in the corresponding quarter the previous year.
Explaining the reason for the decline, Mr R.S.P. Sinha, Chairman and Managing Director, told Business Line, “MTNL is offering its services to Delhi and Mumbai, which is highly saturated, while other operators are growing rapidly in the entire country. Even then we have not been able to sustain our profit margins. Going forward, the numbers will improve as we are planning a huge ramp-up of our IPTV and broadband services.”
MTNL said that the decline in profit was on account of declining tariffs, less collection from interconnection, and stiff competition. The company’s total revenues also dipped from Rs 1,272 crore in the first quarter of 2006-07 to Rs 1,195 crore at the end of June 30, 2007. “However, if you look at the revenues from mobile services, our growth is better than that of some of the private operators,” said Mr Sinha. As compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous year, there is an increase in income in mobile services from Rs 179 crore to Rs 216 crore, which is an increase of 20.89%.
The staff expenses during this quarter has gone down from Rs 448.9 crore to Rs 422.5 crore. The operative expense during the quarter ended on June 30, 2007 has decreased from Rs 223.2 crore to Rs 202.5 crore. As earlier reported, MTNL has received a refund of Rs 1,461.68 crore from the income-tax authority mainly on account of licence fee to be treated as an operational expenses & 80IA. “While the new services along with our GSM offering should see us getting better margins by the end of the current financial year, the Government should think about allowing MTNL to move beyond Delhi and Mumbai,” said Mr Sinha.

Truphone defeats T-Mobile in Court. Victory for VoIP and Internet Era Services,

Truphone has won a court injunction against T-Mobile blocking of its services. Judge has ordered T-Mobile (UK) Ltd to stop blocking calls to truphone and to interconnect with Truphone.
Truphone provides low-cost internet telephony service on mobile phones causing it to grow in popularly shortly after its launch. T-Mobile fearing that this will affect their revenue started blocking calls to Truphone and refuse to interconnect with them all together. This forced truphone to go to court seeking an injuction against T-Mobile actions, an injuction which was fully granted. T-Mobile (UK) actions are not surprising because the cost of mobile communication is very high in Europe giving the mobile operators opportunity to rip off their subscribers but mobile voip is changing all that and they are not happy about that. That is why, while T-mobile (US) is busy launching their own voip service in America, T-mobile (UK) is trying to block mobile voip in Europe
After the rulling James Tagg, Truphone's chief executive officer said: "The injunction is good news not only for Truphone but for every company trying to develop internet-era services and for every consumer wanting freedom of choice and lower prices. We are determined to bring better-value mobile calls, text messages and other innovative services to mobile phone users, and it's right that we should not be prevented from doing so.To be granted interim relief means we successfully demonstrated that we have an arguable case to make at a full trial. To be granted interim relief means we successfully demonstrated that we have an arguable case to make at a full trial."
This is a victory for voip technology and other internet-era services. Telecom service providers should accept the fact that this technology is here to stay and there is no blocking it. The earlier they adopt it and harness its revenue potential the better.

Despite the dominance of voice communication, e-mail and the internet, fax is still very relevant and necessary especially in the business environment. Sending and receiving fax the traditional way requires you to have a fax machine, a telephone line, and pay a monthly charge to your provider, sometimes the cost could be enormous but Efax
is changing all that using the power of voip technology. Cost of faxing is now considerably reduced, no fax machine and extra telephone line required. Also the process of sending fax has been simplified, its now just like sending e-mail

Universal Music Group and Vringo Partners to Deliver Video Ringtones

Vringo, the pioneer in video ringtone sharing, announced today that it had entered into a trial licensing agreement with Universal Music Group (UMG), the world’s largest music company. Under this agreement, Vringo subscribers will be able to personalize their own video ringtones, or “Vringos,” using clips from some of the most popular videos in UMG’s collection.
Vringos are associated with the caller, not the called phone. Subscribers to the Vringo service use a buddy list to deliver a 2- to 10-second personalized video clip announcing the caller to the person being called. For example, a Vringo subscriber can select a video clip of Rihanna’s SOS to appear on all called parties’ phones at the start of a call, or they can send a different Vringo to each individual. Vringos let subscribers share their enthusiasm for a great singer, movie or sports figure—or simply share a memory, a laugh or a moment caught on the phone’s camera.
Users select their Vringo clips through the phone or online, and from a variety of premium content. They may also download promotional clips at no cost, or generate their own free clips with the phone’s video camera. As soon as a user selects and sends a clip, it is downloaded to all buddies’ phones.
Vringos can be pushed to any subscriber in the Vringo community with a compatible wireless phone. The Vringo medium—along with its multimedia messages—is expected to spread virally through friends, interest groups, fan groups and social networks, and to serve the interests of content providers and carriers as well as mobile phone customers. If deployed as part of an advertising or subscription-based revenue model, promotional Vringos can be accompanied by click-through-purchase screens that take orders for the CD, DVD or movie ticket associated with the clip.
“The Universal Music Group videos being delivered to Vringo customers showcase the world’s most popular artists and musicians, performing their landmark hits,” said Rob Wells, senior vice president–Digital, Universal Music Group International. “We’re pleased to make our artists available to an even wider and more connected worldwide audience through this service.”
“Vringo is proud to be able to include Universal Music Group’s content in the Vringo catalogue,” said Jon Medved, Vringo CEO. “It will give subscribers access to some of the most compelling and popular material in the world today. We expect Universal Music’s content to strongly resonate with the Vringo user base.”
UMG has formatted its music videos to meet Vringo requirements in download speed and the mobile handset’s screen resolution and size. The licensed clips represent the top 20 video sales in UMG’s collection and range from Snoop Dogg’s Drop It Like It's Hot, to Rihanna’s SOS, Sugababes’ Push The Button, 50 Cent’s Outta Control, Candy Shop and Just A Lil Bit, Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit, Mario Winans’ I Don't Wanna Know, and Guns N’ Roses’ Sweet Child O' Mine.
Clips from these videos are now available to Vringo beta users via mobile handsets and can be acquired online by registered trial participants at vringo.com.

T-Mobile's Dual Mode Service

This post is a review of the recently launched T-Mobile dual mode service in the US. The irony with t-mobile business policy is that why they are actively fighting voip in some countries they are launching voip service of their own in others. Anyway that is the the purpose of this article, this article is to let readers know how they can benefit from this t-mobile service and where they should exercise caution. Subscribing to the T-Mobile's new dual mode service might seem like a no-brainer for many mobile users: it lets you use your cellular/WiFi handset as your only phone, it works over the cellular network when you're on the move, and it uses VoIP over WiFi when you're at home or near a T-Mobile hotspot. They'll even throw in a wireless home router, optimized for VoIP quality, for free (after mail-in rebate). The service will add $10 or $20 to your cellular bill, but getting rid of your landline subscription should more than make up the difference. What could be simpler?
In fact, the decision is not as simple as it seems. Communications choices these days always come with trade-offs, and you might end up saving less money than you think, or you just might not be able to get all the pieces of the puzzle to fit just right. In short, it's better to exercise your brain a bit before you go and dump your trusty wireline phone.
One potential problem is your broadband service. You'll still need it to connect your WiFi router, not to mention your computer, to the Internet. But if you are using DSL and drop your wireline phone service, you'll have to get naked DSL, that is, DSL that runs over your copper phone line without the voice circuit that usually comes with it.
Once upon a time (a year or so ago), AT&T was charging almost as much for naked DSL as it was for phone service alone. Now it has apparently seen the light (or the wrath of the FCC) and offers naked DSL for under $20 a month. But you'd better check with your provider, whether AT&T or another carrier, to make sure you can get DSL without phone service where you live at a reasonable price.
Of course, you can switch and buy your broadband access from your friendly, local cable company--if you haven't done so already--but that adds another set of complications because the VoIP service operators' offer may be too cheap to turn down. The problem is that when you buy the famous triple-play package--voice, broadband and TV--from a cable provider, it often costs less, sometimes as little as $33 per month.
Ordering only two parts of the package instead of three could raise the total cost, so you could end paying almost as much for broadband and TV as you would for the triple-play package. Thus, using your mobile phone as your only phone might not end up saving you much.
Of course, maybe you already do most of your calling on your cellphone, and would do all of it if it weren't for that cellular dead spot centered around your house. If you're going to go dual mode just so you can use your handset at home, you might as well go ahead and trash the landline. Even if you don't save any money, you'll gain all the convenience of the one-number life. And in the end, isn't convenience what mobile phones are all about?

Free Mobile VoIP Calls from Symmy

The high cost of mobile calls especially in europe and some other parts of the world is making mobile voip a real viable alternative and providers are launching mobile voip services that offer free calls between subscribers in order to capture the market. Such services are being launched at an average of about 3 per month and here at solomon's voip world we will bring information about such services to you as soon as it is launched. Recently Symmy launched its mobile voip service that enable users to make free calls to other users, chat and tranfer files directly from their mobile phone.
In order to use symmy all you have to do is to register on their website and dowload a small phone application to your mobile phone. You can download this application by using your mobile phone web browers or downloading it to your computer and tranfer the file to your mobile phone. After installation of symmy on your cell phone you can start making free calls to other members of the symmy community, also you can chat, send email and tranfer files for free.
The only downside of symmy is that only few handsets are supported, about 22 in all and 90% of that number are Nokia phones though they plan to extend it to other phone brands. Also more importantly when using mobile voip service you have to watch your mobile internet connection charges from your mobile service provider so that you dont acquire so much data cost. It is better if you are on a fixed monthly rate data service to really enjoy the cost reduction of mobile voip.
For more information about symmy mobile voip service and to sign-up for the service visit www.symmy.com
