Prodrive Gets LAN Upgrade from Foundry
When Prodrive realized that the increase in its data traffic, including large quantities of design, simulation and telemetry information which are shared around Prodrive's campus network could no longer be accommodated effectively by its existing infrastructure, the company had to call on Foundry to help upgrade its system.
Ensuring that Prodrive is equipped with the latest technology available, Foundryinstalled its FastIron(r) SX Layer 2/3 10 gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) and FastIron Edge Power over Ethernet (PoE) switches at Prodrive headquarters in Banbury. However, Prodrive is also planning to upgrade its network at its automotive technology centre in Kenilworth, Warwickshire.
The agreement of the upgrade includes the coverage of the main administrative buildings and eight buildings where rally and racing cars are built. The buildings have been connected with dual fibre links, providing additional bandwidth and network functionality, and allowing Prodrive to deploy additional IP-based applications, including VoIP.
With the provision of VoIP, the company wishes to support its business internationally, enabling collaborative working across sites through application sharing and video conferencing.
Foundry Networks Inc provides switching, routing, security and Web traffic management solutions while Prodrive is a motorsport and automotive engineering group.
