Boingo Adds 36,000 New Hotspots Via KT
Boingo Wireless, the Wi-Fi industry’s leading worldwide provider of software and services, and KT, the largest telephony carrier in South Korea, today announced they have completed network integration, giving Boingo customers access to more than 36,000 new Wi-Fi hotspots throughout South Korea. The roaming integration enables both laptops and Wi-Fi enabled handhelds.
The addition of KT’s 36,000 Wi-Fi locations brings Boingo’s total hotspot count to more than 210,000 locations globally. For a complete directory of Boingo hotspots, please visit http://boingo.jiwire.com.
With the integration, Boingo customers can use their account to access KT’s entire Wi-Fi footprint in South Korea, which includes airports, restaurants, cafes, hotels, bus terminals, train stations, and convention centers.
“Thanks to KT, Boingo customers now have online coverage at virtually every public hotspot in South Korea,” said Dave Hagan, president and CEO for Boingo Wireless. “KT’s ambitious and successful Wi-Fi deployment gives Boingo the opportunity to meet the burgeoning demand for Internet access among our users in the Asia Pacific region.”
“KT has more than doubled our Wi-Fi footprints in 2010, and we continue to charge onward with more than 100,000 Wi-Fi hotspots by the end of 2011 -- which will make us the world’s largest Wi-Fi network operated by a single carrier,” said Kim Hoon-bae, vice president of the Messaging/Roaming Business Department for KT. “Boingo is one of our valued partners, and we welcome Boingo customers to experience our high-speed, nearly ubiquitous hotspots network.”
“When two leading global Wi-Fi providers partner up, the result is a win-win for consumers,” said Allen Pan, director of Asia Pacific for Boingo Wireless. “The addition of KT’s 36,000 Wi-Fi hotspots ensures that Boingo customers located or traveling in South Korea will remain connected on their laptops, tablets and smartphones.”
Boingo customers can get online immediately at all KT Wi-Fi hotspots in South Korea, which include the following notable locations: Incheon International and Gimpo airports, Hilton and Intercontinental hotels, Starbucks coffee shops, COEX Mall, as well as Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, McDonald's and Lotteria restaurants.
Boingo is available in 103 countries worldwide and 26 countries in the Asia Pacific region, including Australia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand.
